I'm Raquel - a gym girlie, avid junk journaling creative, outdoor enthusiast, preservationist and the human who can't stop noticing the small details that become sacred over time.

Where it began...
Penpals. Old family photographs spread across the kitchen table. Baking alongside my mom in a farmhouse on a small dairy.
That's where I come from. And if you look closely enough, it's in every single photograph I make.
I learned early that connection is the whole point.
That the ordinary moments — the ones that feel too small to document — are the ones you will ache for later. The flour on your hands. The handwriting on an envelope. The way someone looked at you across a table when they thought you weren't watching.
I never stopped noticing those things. I just eventually found a way to preserve them.
The toy you are tired of picking up may just be the item you wish you had photographed.
The turning point...
In 2020, I was deep in the trenches of a healthcare career, working in a hospital in the middle of a pandemic. The world had gone quiet in the worst way. Connection — the thing I had always needed like oxygen — felt suddenly scarce and fragile and precious.
So I picked up a camera.
At first it was a creative outlet, a way to breathe. But something shifted quickly. I started photographing people and realized I was giving them something I couldn't have named before I held it — potentially the last images they would ever have of someone they loved. And I understood, in a way I hadn't before, that this was not a hobby. This was a calling that had been waiting for me.I haven't stopped since.
A preservationist. A observer.
A collector of evidence - that love exists in many forms all around us.
Home won't always look like this.
The way it smells, the way the light falls, the way everyone crowds into one room.
Who I am...
I am a person who will get down in the dirt with you. Literally and figuratively. I grew up on a dairy farm — I know what real work looks like, and I bring that same ethic to every session, every wedding, every birth I am honored to witness. I do not phone it in. I do not show up halfway. When I am with you, I am entirely with you.
I am also someone who will remember your birthday. Who will reach out on your anniversary not because it's a marketing strategy but because I genuinely want to celebrate with you. The relationships I build with my clients are not transactional — they are some of the most meaningful ones in my life. To know others and to be known is something I hold sacred. It is the whole reason I do this.
I will be honest with you about something, too. I struggle to be witnessed. I am far more comfortable behind the lens than in front of it — far more practiced at seeing others than at being seen. But I think that tension is part of what makes me good at this. I understand, from the inside, how vulnerable it is to be truly looked at. And I carry that understanding into every room I enter.
Years from now, you wont remember every smile. You will remember how your people looked at one another when they forgot I was even there.
Why I'm passionate about this...
My deepest hope — the thing that lights my soul on fire — is that when you look at your photographs, you don't see your perceived flaws. You see what I see. You see the way your partner looks at you. The way your child reaches for you. The way your family looks when it is just being itself, unguarded and whole and entirely worthy of being preserved.
We all have inherent worth and value. Every single one of us. It is the greatest privilege of my life to give people the gift of seeing that in themselves.
