The Preservationist’s Cart

If you’re always scrolling, shopping and immediately needing to know what someone used to get that look—hi, same. This is where I’m gathering the tools I’ve genuinely found helpful as a photographer and content creator, along with the everyday finds I use, love and would absolutely send to you in a “you need this” text.

Some links on this page are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them—at no additional cost to you. FOR THE PART OF PRESERVATION NO ONE SEES

Seagate One Touch 8TB External Hard Drive

This is where the less glamorous side of preservation happens. With 8TB of storage, it gives me plenty of room for the enormous galleries, video clips and business files I’m constantly collecting—and the USB-C connection means one cord without another bulky wall plug fighting for space under my desk. It also includes a two-year warranty and Rescue Data Recovery Services.

FOR EDITING WHEREVER I END UP

SenseAGE Foldable Laptop Stand

For anyone who edits from the desk, the couch, a coffee shop and occasionally a position that would deeply concern a chiropractor.

This lightweight stand folds completely flat, weighs only six ounces and gives my laptop a little lift without adding another bulky piece of equipment to my bag. It raises the screen about three centimeters, has a nonslip base and supports laptops up to 15.4 inches

The Preservationist's Tool Kit

FOR TAKING THE OFFICE WITH ME

tomtoc 18L Flap Laptop Backpack

For the days when I need to carry my laptop, charger, water bottle, snacks and approximately seventeen tiny things I’m afraid to leave home without.

This lightweight, water-resistant backpack has a padded laptop compartment, a separate tablet pocket, interior organization and two stretchy side pockets. At 18 liters, it has enough space for a workday or quick trip without feeling like I packed for a three-week expedition

FOR CARRYING MY ENTIRE BUSINESS AROUND

tomtoc 360° Protective Laptop Sleeve Kit

My laptop contains entirely too much of my life to be casually tossed into a bag unprotected.

This sleeve has reinforced corners, padded edges and a soft interior to help protect a 16-inch laptop from the inevitable bumps of working on the go. It’s water-resistant and comes with a separate accessory pouch for the charger, mouse, cables and every tiny adapter I’m convinced I’ll need someday.

Best for: Photographers, content creators and fellow digital-file hoarders

Good to know: One hard drive should be part of a larger backup system, never the only place your important files live

Best for: Editing on the go, coffee-shop workdays and making a temporary workspace feel slightly more intentional

Good to know: Check your laptop’s size—it’s designed for devices up to 15.4 inches

Best for: Photographers, content creators, travel days and anyone carrying their entire business on a laptop

Good to know: This listing is sized for select 16-inch laptops, so check the compatibility list and dimensions before ordering

Best for: Coffee-shop workdays, commuting, travel and carrying your everyday creative-business essentials

Good to know: The detailed listing specifies a 15.6-inch laptop compartment, so compare its measurements with your device before ordering

FOR CREATING CONTENT WITHOUT A CAMERA CREW

ULANZI MT85 Magnetic Phone Tripod

For when the photographer needs someone to photograph her—and everyone else is busy.

This magnetic tripod pops its four legs open when it touches the ground, extends to about 60 inches and includes a detachable Bluetooth remote, making it much easier to film Reels, behind-the-scenes clips and the occasional solo adventure without balancing my phone against a water bottle. It weighs under a pound, so it’s actually realistic to carry around.

FOR FILMING THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOS

ULANZI ST-06S Camera-Mounted Phone Holder

For capturing the behind-the-scenes while I’m busy capturing everything else.

This little mount attaches a phone directly to a camera or tripod, making it easier to record vertical behind-the-scenes footage without holding two devices at once. It rotates 360 degrees, tilts for different angles and includes two cold-shoe mounts for adding a small microphone or light.

FOR SOUNDING LIKE I KNOW WHAT I’M DOING

ZealSound Mini Wireless Microphone Set

If I’m going to make you listen to me ramble on camera, the least I can do is make sure you can actually hear me.

This tiny wireless set includes two clip-on microphones, noise reduction, adjustable volume and a charging case with up to 33 hours of total use. It connects without an app through USB-C or the included Lightning adapter, making it easy to record voiceovers, interviews or two-person videos without being attached to the phone by a cord.

Behind Heirloom Content

The little things that make creating content by myself significantly less chaotic.

Best for: Solo content creation, travel videos, behind-the-scenes footage and group photos that include everyone

Good to know: It connects directly to MagSafe-compatible phones and cases; other phones require a metal ring. The included remote is battery-powered and not rechargeable

Best for: Photographer behind-the-scenes videos, mobile content setups and filming while you shoot

Good to know: It fits phones approximately 2.36–3.54 inches wide and uses a standard ¼-inch mount or camera shoe

Best for: Reels, vlogs, interviews, educational content and outdoor recording

Good to know: The kit includes both USB-C and Lightning connections, but it’s still worth confirming which port your phone uses before filming

Fujifilm Instax Mini Link Smartphone Printer Bundle

This might be the most on-brand thing I own. It takes photographs that would otherwise disappear into my camera roll and turns them into something I can hold, gift, tuck into a letter or add to an album.

The compact printer connects to your phone through Bluetooth, letting you choose and print the exact image you want on Instax Mini film—no hoping everyone had their eyes open when you pressed the shutter. This particular bundle includes the printer and 40 sheets of film, so you can start printing immediately.

FOR TURNING DIGITAL MEMORIES INTO SOMETHING YOU CAN HOLD

Magnetic Instax Mini Photo Frames — 24 Pack

These clear acrylic frames turn Instax Mini prints into magnets, so the refrigerator can become a tiny, constantly changing archive of the people and moments you love. The set includes 24 double-sided magnetic frames sized for Instax Mini photos—perfect for rotating in new memories whenever you feel like it.

FOR LETTING YOUR PHOTOS LIVE WITH YOU

Fujifilm Instax Mini Instant Film — 20 Pack

Because apparently taking the photo isn’t enough for me—I also need to hold it immediately.

This is the film I keep on hand for instant photos, little behind-the-scenes memories and turning something that happened five minutes ago into a tangible keepsake. Each twin pack includes 20 credit-card-sized prints with the classic white border, made for Instax Mini cameras.

FOR MAKING THE MEMORY TANGIBLE

Preserve Your Own Life

Because your photographs deserve to live somewhere other than your camera roll.

Canon CanoScan LiDE 400 Photo & Document Scanner

If you have boxes of printed photographs you keep meaning to digitize, start here. This slim little scanner lets you preserve old prints, letters and other pieces of family history without needing an enormous office setup—or mailing your only copy of something precious away.

It connects to your computer with one cord, is compact enough to tuck away when you aren’t using it and scans photos at a much higher resolution than simply taking a picture of them with your phone. Because the things tucked inside those old photo boxes deserve a backup, too.

FOR THE PHOTOS THAT EXIST ONLY ON PAPER

Best for: Printed photographs, letters, recipes, artwork and family documents up to letter size

Good to know: This scans physical prints, not film negatives or slides

Best for: weddings, adventures, memory books, gifts and making ordinary days feel a little more worth keeping

Good to know: Double-check that your camera uses Instax Mini film—not Square or Wide

Sage Instant Photo Album

FOR THE MEMORIES STILL BEING MADE

This is the kind of thing that makes me want to print every photo I’ve ever taken.

It holds up to 240 little 2 × 3-inch photographs, with individual pockets to keep Instax Mini prints protected and organized. The sage linen cover and elastic closure make it pretty enough to leave out instead of hiding it in a drawer—which means you might actually keep adding to it.

I especially love this as a gift: add a few photographs to begin the story, then intentionally leave empty spaces for the memories that haven’t happened yet.

Best for: Instax Mini prints, relationship timelines, wedding memories, travel photos and sentimental gifts

Good to know: It fits 2 × 3-inch instant photos—not full-size Polaroids

Best for: Refrigerator galleries, everyday family photos, children’s artwork and small sentimental gifts

Good to know: Peel the protective film off each acrylic frame before using it, or they may look cloudy

Best for: Memory books, client gifts, letters, wedding keepsakes and finally printing some of the thousands of photos on your phone

Good to know: It requires the corresponding Instax Mini Link app and uses Instax Mini film

Found something you needed?

This little collection will keep growing as I find new tools, preservation favorites and everyday things that earn a permanent place in my life—or at least survive the “you absolutely did not need to order that” phase.

Bookmark the page, check back occasionally or follow along on Instagram, where I will inevitably share my latest “okay, but this is actually useful” discovery.

The most important thing in your cart might already be in your camera roll.

The products on this page can help you organize, display and preserve your memories—but first, you have to decide they’re worth keeping. Print the ordinary photographs. Write down the stories. Make something tangible out of the life you’re already living.

And if you want help preserving the way this season actually felt, that’s what I’m here for.
